I received a check in the mail from this company that I did not ask for. I didn't fill out an application I didn't go to their office, I didn't know they existed until I saw that check in my mailbox. Being a single mom of 2 teens and a working mother with no money left every month, I put it in the bank. Yes, knowing it was a loan check.

A woman named Barbara called me soon after asking if I had indeed cashed the check, I told her I had. She said she was going to send a paper I needed to sign, I said fine. I got the paper and my first payment coupon in the mail. Paid the payment, no problem. Until the next month.

The second month I didn't get a payment coupon. Nor did I think about the loan at all. I paid my car payment, cable, phone, house payment, whatever else I could afford out of that check and called it good.

The next time I went to work (about 2 days later), one of our part time helpers begged me, no exaggeration there folks, begged me to call this woman named Barbara back who she described as a very rude woman from Heights Finance. I did. Barbara told me I was late on a payment. I explained that I hadn't received a coupon and simply forgot it. I apologized and told her it was too late for me to make the payment, I'd already paid my bills for that payweek and I would make the payment, including the late fee, from the next paycheck. Barbara then told me I'd have to pay a $21 interest payment in it's place. I again explained that I had no money left in the bank and could not pay the fee until my next paycheck. She questioned me, like some sort of felon saying "You're telling me you can't pay the $21 fee?" I answered "Yes that's what I'm telling you, my paycheck is gone to other bills". We repeated this line of questioning no less than 4 times. Then she said "How about if I send someone from the store to your house to pick it up?" At this point I was very aggitated and told her having someone come to my house was not going to produce the money unless they planned to give it to me. She finally and very reluctantly gave up. The following payweek I made the $81 payment, as well as the extra money for the late fee.

Another two months goes by and again I don't get a payment coupon. Almost the same scenerio only this time she sends a woman to my house who leaves a nasty letter on my car. She has now started calling my cell phone number 4x a day, texting me 4x a day and calling my job. It stressed me out so badly that I actually switched jobs twice, trying to find one where I could make more money and pay her $1000 loan off to be done with her. Which didn't work by the way. Right now I'm making $2 less an hour than I was when this fiaso started.

Yesterday I did some research on my rights and found that federal law prohibits her from calling my place of employment if I ask her not to. I gladly gladly did so. Her response was "Well then I need another contact number". I told her she has my cell phone number and at her request, repeated it to her. She said "But you never respond to that"....gee I wonder why....I told her that was the other number to get ahold of me and I would get her messages. She then stated "Well then I have no choice but to put this through for garnishment". I told her to do what she felt she had to do, her payment was on its way (which it was by the way), but to do what she felt she had to. At that point I ended the conversation.

People, do not....please do not use those unsecured quick loan places. Especially not Heights Finance. I will be in bankruptcy court in the next two months because of the way my finances fell behind trying to catch up payments to that company and make my normal payments. Its not worth it to pay 25% interest and make a deal with the devil.

Their collection tactics are certainly questionable, but my GOD, don't take a loan if you cant afford the payments. Also, after you FAILED to get your FIRST payment coupon, why would you ever allow this to happen again?

I mean, you went thru so much hassle the first time, so if you didn't learn your lesson from your first missed payment, then you deserve whatever they throw at you. Just because you don't get a bill in the mail doesn't mean you don't owe money.

I am sure your contract was very clear and specified a dollar amount and a due date for for all payments. Be a responsible adult, regardless of whether you get a bill monthly or not, and pay your fricking payment on time...I bet if you do, the harassment will cease.

Do not borrow money, the borrorer is always slave to the lender. Soory you took a check from the mail and cashed it.

Nothing is free and it should be illegal.

All these title loan and payday loan joints should go under. It is the same as the Mafia except they dont break your arm.

They just break your spirit, trust and will to do good. Predators, that's all they are!

Atleast if you get the check I'm the mail you don't have ask their extra charges, cash the check , :p , it'll save a few hundred dollars or more if you don't consolidate it with another! I have two kaunas with them, no trouble.

while admitting ive had issues at times paying on time, ive received phone threats to send a tow truck for my truck and the in person threats are far worse then being told that if i pay with personal check that my account will be drained to make me current. not a good institute at all

don't take the loan if you don't make the money to pay the bills you already have, that is how you get in this trouble in the frist place. My wife an I only took the loan check because we could consuladate all our other little bills and that left us with only one bill to pay.If you add up all the little intrest payments we were making, we are saving mons=a=ey with only one payment, the intrest from amny out weights the high intrest of the one...

@Kalla07, I know how you feel. Infact I thnk that my local office may have hired the woman you talked too.

This lady has only been working here for a few months and she did the exact same thing to my wife. She is completely rude and gets no respect from me. The other 2 ladies in the office are very nice and willing to work with us. See we had got into a car accident just after getting the loan, our car was totaled out and we didn't get a replacement for almost a month, not even a rental.

It put us way behind on our bills but she doens't give 2 cents. Thanks god that our Insurance Claim will be getting paid in a couple of months so we can pay them off.

I know she is just doing her job but there is a level of respect you should give the costumers.

;) I started with a loan through Riverside Finance which recently was bought out by Heights Finance. I can say that when Riverside had my loan it was aweful my paybent was insane, and it felt like it was never going to go down.

I would borrown an extra $100.00 and my payment would be $50.00 more each month. With Height, however they refinance my loan right away, found a way to lower my monthly payment and lower my interest rate. I just recently paid the majority of my loan off with my taxes and they were happy for me. I even got a baloon and saying congratulations on it.

I Have not had any problems with them at all. Infact, they have been nothing but genuien to me. I say go for it. When I started with this loan my credit was int he dumps.

Now it's not, that's proof to me.

Thanks... A happy Cunstomer!

I keep getting a letter for a Cheryl Martin who i don't even know.never had a cheryl in my family and she took loan out before i even moved to ten. and they act *** as *** when i call about. time for an attorney that they will pay for.

I have had a loan in the past with Heights and had NO problems with them. The staff at my local branch has been nothing but sweet and helpful.

I recently got a check/loan from them in the mail, cashed it, and am making payments. Still no problems. Just made a payment over the phone, in fact.

The bottom line is- they are a business. If you take out a loan with them, they do expect to be paid back.

Yes, they are high interest, but for those with a tarnished credit history, they can be the difference betweengetting a loan or not. I for one am glad they are here!

True. Its a business, its a bill.

There is a due date, pay on time. The interest is high, but thats because of negative credit history for what ever reason- be it hard times or just poor judgement and management-pay early.

Read everything before you sign it, no one puts a gun to anyones head or rushes them to sign, and no one makes you deposit a check into your account. Life is not free, they provide a service that is needed and have always been honest with me and respectful.

I don't think u understand what we go thru working for finance companies. We r under immense pressure to get loans & get accounts collected.

It is one of the most stressful jobs out there. If we don't get the numbers they want to see, we lose our jobs. We work for them cause we need the job, not cause we like it....AT ALL! It sucks!

They get u n management, then pay u enough so that u can't leave, cause no one else will come close to the same salary. I hate what I do. I am in tears on a daily business with the way we, even as employees are treated.

Just try to remember, the employee who may not be treating u right, I can guarantee they r getting yelled at behind the scenes by their boss. No matter what we do, its never good enough for them.

I just lost my job because the office was not growing and the delinquency was too high! people did not beleive me when I said this could happen.

the company only cares about making money, not the employees! :cry

I hear u! I got lucky in late January 2013 & finally found another job with a much better company that treats us with respect.

Otherwise, I was positive that they were going to fire me in March for the very same reasons u were let go. They are asinine, ***, money hungry *** that only care about themselves & their wallets.....Especially Scott M!

He can kiss my *** & what goes around comes around!!! :zzz

I previously worked for Heights too. Immense pressure?

I didn't see that. I loved my job! Worked in consumer finance for over 30 years. Cannot imagine ever doing anything else.

If you don't like it, chances are you were not successful at it. Life is far to short to go through the stress you imply you have.

I wish you well.

i got a loan from these people and i have been paying on this loan for 4 years now and my balance hasn't even come down. They are rude and the interest is ridiculous.

i called today about my pay off amount and they wouldn't even give me the amount? Do not ever go through this company they prey on people who have bad or no credit.

i will never do business with them again. :(

Guest

I've had loans through heights for years and have never had a problem with them!! Don't get a loan if u can't pay it back! Stop getting mad cause bill collectors wants their money

Guest

We have delt with Heights for some time and have had multiple problems with the office. I had bought a new car and they loan officer seen this and without my permission pulled a credit report the next day to see who loaned us the money.

They act like they own you, do no use them. The finance charges are high and they take advantage of people with troubled credit.

Just walking in the office makes you feel like a piece of *** and the girls were always rude. Sure it's cash when you need it it but the headache is not worth the case:( run like forest!
